John Beasley is a Partner at LDB who has worked in public practice since 2007. He joined LDB in 2015 when Cottle and Hickie Accountants merged with the firm and was appointed Partner in July 2021. His client base includes property development, manufacturing, logistics, retail, wholesale and investment activities, although his work is less defined by industry than by finding the right fit with the client.

That fit shows up in the range of what John handles from day-to-day operational and cash flow questions through to business acquisitions and sales, inheritance matters and more complex family or ownership arrangements. He also assists existing business clients with SMSF matters, including the accounting and tax considerations involved in acquiring business premises or holding other assets through superannuation.

Accessibility and communication are central to John’s approach. He places importance on being available when clients need to talk something through, whether it is a straightforward question or a more significant business or family decision. For an experienced business owner, that may mean acting as a sounding board for strategy or simplifying their affairs. For someone starting out or taking over family assets, it may involve more guidance around structures, obligations and financial fundamentals.

Where a matter involves a family or an ownership group working through change, John’s role is often less about the numbers and more about keeping everyone moving toward the same outcome and making that process manageable along the way.

John attended Wesley College in Glen Waverley before studying at Deakin University in Burwood, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in accounting and finance. He is a member of both CAANZ and CPA Australia.
