Meet George Psarologos, Partner at LDB Group

As part of the business advisory team at LDB, George works with business owners to help them grow their enterprises and achieve their vision.

In this article, you’ll learn more about George, his expertise and interests outside of work.

1) What attracted you to a career in accounting?

I enjoyed the concepts and the role accounting played in everyday life, so when I finished at university I worked for one of the bigger city firms.

I then had a few years in London working in investment banks, which continued on my return to Melbourne.

However, I missed not being able to have a direct influence on people’s affairs, so was convinced by one of LDB’s founding partners, Chris Barbanti, to join the company in 2008.

Being part of a firm that can directly assist individuals and businesses with every aspect of their financial affairs has vindicated the decision I made. I haven’t looked back since!

2) What’s your area of expertise?

As an advisor in the current environment, we encounter different issues every day, so we need to be across many areas.

Personally, I enjoy helping businesses with their strategy and ownership structures.

I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a great team that allows us to work with clients on a regular basis, ensuring we are part of their business team.

3) What do your love about your job?

Mainly the journey, whether it’s with clients or colleagues.

Seeing a client come to you with an idea, then assisting, where you can, watching them achieve their goals and knowing you have helped gives me the most fulfilment.

Likewise, watching colleagues develop into well rounded professionals who take pride in their work and relationships gives me just as much satisfaction.

4) What’s your top tip for new businesses?

Focus on your strengths and surround yourself with people who use their strengths to help you. It’s difficult for business owners to be the best person at every role in their business.

I also emphasise taking the time to put the right structures in place, which will almost certainly benefit in the long run.

5) What are your hobbies outside of work?

Travel would be the main one, even if it’s just a weekend away.

I aim to visit somewhere new each year, but in the last few years the Greek Islands have had a strong hold of me.

6) Which actor would you like to play you in a movie about your life?

I’d like to say Ryan Gosling. But, in reality, it’s probably Adam Sandler.

7) What is your favourite movie and book?

This is a hard one for me because I’m a movie buff!  My favourites include Coming to America (Comedy), Kill Bill (Action) and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Rom-Com).

My all-time favourite book is Mario Puzo’s The Godfather.
